After suffering crippling shyness that threatened to end her career, Melbourne author and mum of two, Kaley Chu, knew something had to change and set herself a challenge – to have lunch with one hundred strangers. She achieved that goal in 2019 and wrote a best-selling book, 100 Lunches with Strangers, sharing her journey from a shy immigrant to a confident TEDx Speaker in just 2 years. Then COVID hit.

Like all of us in 2020, Kaley went virtual and has since clocked up over 350 lunches with people all over the globe, ranging from CEOs, billionaires and even celebrities like Shane Jacobson. Throughout Melbourne’s long COVID lockdowns, Kaley realised that she wasn’t alone in her self-development journey and created two thriving communities with over 4,000 members, one which helps immigrants build their confidence and grow their local networks.

Kaley says that her lunches experience has transformed every single aspect of her life, and now dedicates her time helping others get out of their comfort zone.
